- Discount points, lender fees and lender credits shown separately.
- Estimated third-party costs, taxes and insurance, with exclusions identified.
- The lock period, whether the rate is actually locked, and when the quote expires.
- The assumptions about credit, down payment, occupancy and property type.

Looking for a local mortgage broker?
Start with an originator authorized to serve the state where the property is located. Check their location, company, NMLS information, languages and public credentials. Ask about communication preferences and experience with your type of financing.
Our loan officer directory shows published profiles. Coverage depends on participating professionals; a license to serve your state does not necessarily mean an office in your town. Some originators are brokers and others work for lenders—check the profile and ask which lenders they can offer.

Can I get mortgage quotes without giving my phone number?
Our free calculators need no phone number. The private quote workflow being prepared uses email confirmation for the initial scenario request; the phone field comes later, when you choose to share contact details with an originator. Live quote requests are not open yet. Calculator estimates are not personalized lender offers.
Can I ask mortgage brokers to compete for my loan?
The prepared workflow lets you ask selected originators to price the same scenario, then compare their written responses. You choose the participants and decide whether to connect. It is a quote comparison process, not a live reverse auction or a promise that each response is the broker’s absolute lowest rate. Is private mortgage shopping the same as anonymous preapproval?
No. Exploring estimates or requesting a preliminary quote is different from a lender reviewing your identity, credit and financial information for preapproval. Ask the lender what its process requires and how it will contact you. Our preapproval checklist helps you prepare; Shop Lender Rates does not issue preapprovals.
Can I shop for a mortgage without unsolicited calls?
The prepared SLR workflow separates requesting a quote from authorizing contact. Choosing an originator to quote does not authorize them to call you. Optional follow-up emails have separate preferences. This does not control communications caused by information you share elsewhere or promise that no outside business will ever contact you.
What does “no-hassle mortgage quotes” mean here?
Our goal is one organized scenario, clear costs and a contact-sharing decision you control. You will still need to provide accurate financing details to receive a useful response. A quote request does not guarantee an offer, a particular rate or a completed loan.
Will Shop Lender Rates pull my credit?
No credit-report ordering is connected to this website. Calculators use the information you enter, and the prepared quote workflow uses a self-reported credit range. A lender’s later application and credit-check process is separate and should be explained by that lender.
Does a broker’s profile guarantee an honest quote?
A profile, credential or review can help you decide what to ask, but it is not a guarantee of a loan outcome or future conduct. Compare the written fees, assumptions and expiration yourself. Our comparison methodology explains the intended approach; advertising does not buy a better organic position.
Is a private quote request a mortgage application?
The prepared SLR request is a preliminary shopping scenario. It is not a completed lender application, underwriting decision, rate lock or promise of funding. A lender will explain the information and steps needed if you choose to proceed.
